About
What We Are About, In A Nutshell
Put simply, Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) links people in our community to local farmers. Our mission is to make inexpensive, fresh, organic, and locally-grown vegetables available to everyone in our community and to support local agriculture. The farmer benefits because we provide a direct market for his goods. The community benefits by getting delicious and healthy food at a super cheap price! No middleman means that you pay much less than in the supermarket.
LIC CSA and the New York City Coalition Against Hunger partner together to bring fresh, local food from Farm at Miller’s Crossing in Hudson, NY to the Long Island City community. We are proud to be a mixed income CSA, ensuring access to good food for people of all income levels.
Anyone Can Afford It!
Fresh organic vegetables are not just for the rich. We have set up our CSA so that anyone can participate regardless of his/her income. We accept a variety of payment plans including food stamps.
It’s An Adventure!
Becoming a member of the CSA is like embarking on a gourmet adventure. Each week you receive a variety of freshly picked vegetables. We exchange recipes and cooking tips and we share our food ideas at potluck dinners. Members often find that joining the CSA initiates a positive change in their lifestyle.
